QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
What’s It About?
This one day emergency first aid at work course will provide your employees with the basic knowledge and practical experience they need to administer first aid in the workplace.
It will enable them to act as your appointed person and to take charge of the first aid arrangements. The course also includes looking after your first aid equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services when required.
Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for your ‘nominated’ persons responsible for the first aid provision in your businesses. It is suitable for people who provide support to qualified first aiders in larger organisations and those with more complex risks.
In order to establish the first aid requirement within your business, you are legally obliged to carry out a detailed First Aid Needs Analysis. Complete our First Aid requirements Calculator.
Why’s It Important?
Having designated first aiders in the workplace is a legal requirement. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 state that employers should provide adequate and appropriate equipment and enough trained first aiders to help injured or ill staff.
Although accidents can be prevented, they can still occur so it’s important to be prepared. Having adequately trained first aid personnel onsite will ensure that if an emergency situation does arise, it will be dealt with in a prompt and effective manner.
If you fail to provide emergency first aiders in the workplace then you are putting everyone involved in your business at risk: your employees, your customers and your visitors.
How would you feel if you had to tell someone’s family that their loved one died because no one in your business knew what to do?
What Will You Gain?
By attending this emergency first aid course, your employees will understand their role and responsibilities as a first aider in the workplace as well as the legal requirements for first aid provision.
On returning to the workplace, they will have the confidence to react quickly in response to an incident. Administering a good level of first aid quickly can often be the difference between life and death.
